All About Madeline

Madeline is a quiet, well-behaved little girl. She turned 6 in September.

Madeline faces many challenges in physical development and mobility due to contracture of the joints. When she was an infant, she was part of our formula project. We couldn't help but be drawn to her sweet look when we found her photos in our formula project archives.

August 2021 Madeline joined our Savannah Project. When she first arrived, she was shy and unsure of the new environment. Initially she wanted her nanny to be involved in everything she did: reading, taking a walk, playing games with the children. With the help of her nanny, after a month, she adapted very well and developed many good habits. She would sit on the floor mat and read; she would put her shoes neatly away when she returned from going out; she would say goodbye to her nanny when she went to class, and she would say hello to her nanny when she came home from school.

To increase her self-confidence, as her hair grew, her nanny would help her clip her hair with small butterfly clips. Madeline would look at herself in the mirror and give a big smile.

To help her body develop, we have added two new rehabilitation programs. One of them is spending time in a stander. Because Madeline must go to school every morning and afternoon, the stander can only be arranged for directly after lunch. Every day, her nanny will serve her meal first, and then prepare the stander.

Madeline was always the first to finish eating, and then happily goes to the stander. After the preparations are completed, her nanny will pick up a storybook to read interesting stories to her.

With adapting to her situation, Madeline has made obvious progress in all areas. She does activities, reads books, and has so much fun with her nanny and the other children every day. She has become a lively and cheerful child, sometimes naughty, sometimes well-behaved; she loves to read, and from books and hands-on activities, she has learned to recognize fruits, colors, quantities, numbers, and can also put puzzles together. She does things carefully and tries to be as flawless as possible!

After more than half a year of careful care from the nannies, Madeline became more and more cheerful and caring. Every time when she returns from school, she will not only put away her own things, but also help the other children. She never tires of telling the nannies about interesting things that happened in the class and what they learned. The Madeline that everyone sees now is sweet, with a bright smile always on her face.

Theodore gave Madeline the scooter he used before as a means of transportation. The two often rode the car together to go out to play.

Madeline is a very hardworking child. Through standing frame training, stretching, and rehabilitation, she is not afraid of getting tired and keeps exercising hard.

Now her core, legs and arms are strong, and her range of motion has improved. With the help of her nanny, she learned to climb up the slide by herself. On the slide, she gave a bright smile and said, "Look at me! I successfully climbed the slide!"

One day Tyler joined our project. When Madeline saw him, she said, "Mom, I want to hug my brother!" With her nanny’s help, she hugged him and said, "I will play with you in the future! ”Madeline became a big sister!

One day, the nannies were busy feeding the other children, and Tyler suddenly started crying. Madeline put down her bowl and began to play with Tyler. Her nanny said, "Madeline, you can eat first." Madeline said, "It's okay, mom, I’ll play with my brother for a while. That way he won't cry. I'll eat when you're done." When her nanny heard her, tears instantly came to her eyes. ——My little girl has grown up, is caring, and knows that she is loved dearly!

Love can make a difference!
