NDNorth: Nanny Training Part 2

It's time to grow! In late August we interviewed a dozen women and chose about half of them to be trained at New Day Beijing. We were impressed with many of the women who came to the interview, and watched as they interacted with the children in the orphanage. Seeing how they interacted with needy children who had special needs was one of the most important parts of our "interview"!

The nannies arrived in Beijing on Monday for their two-week training and we're sure that they're learning a lot! The nannies at New Day Beijing are very experienced and have lots of wisdom to share. Here, one of our nannies chats with Annie, a regular day nanny up in the baby room. Maybe she's gleaning wisdom from this wise woman!

...or maybe she was just asking for permission to cuddle precious Ava.

Another one of our nannies is learning from the nannies downstairs. Although, come to think about it, the nannies probably learn more from the children...

There are so many things to learn about childcare; things like being gentle, quiet, tender and helping the children feel safe and loved and helping them reach their potential.

We know that the women we have hired to be nannies for the second "Room of Hope" up in Inner Mongolia are getting some great experience and we cannot wait until they return up North after the finish their training. They are about to be entrusted with the care of a group of children who desperately need them. The transformations that are about to take place are going to be amazing.

We are looking forward to introducing you to the new children who will join our project. Coming soon!
