NDSouth: A Special Birthday

One very special girl celebrated a very special birthday yesterday. Miss Leila turned 2 years old! Each birthday is indeed special but Leila's is extra special this year. 

Why, you may ask? Just under a year ago, on December 26, 2012, Leila was admitted into the hospital due to heart surgery complications. She went on to spend the next 3 1/2 months lying in a hospital bed. As each day, week, and month went by, the doctors were running out of options and giving up hope. In fact, we were told that children with Leila's condition, don't leave the hospital alive. They were giving up on her. 

If there is one thing we know, that is that hope is never lost. We continued to believe that a miracle would occur in Leila's life.

Finally, on April 6, 2013, Leila was released from the hospital and could come home. As the months went on, Leila become stronger and stronger, even learning to walk! She is full of determination and we couldn't be more proud of her.

Therefore, as you can tell, Leila's 2nd birthday is in fact a special day. It's special because it's the day a precious little girl reaches another year of life. A little girl who, according to a medical diagnosis, should not be here today.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Leila. We are so thankful for your life and the precious little girl that you are!
