NDSouth: A Day in the Life

Imagine that you are nearly 1 years old, ten months to be exact.

What would life be like?  A lot of excitement would fill your days, and a lot of firsts would just be appearing on the horizon.

First crawling, then in several months time, walking and talking, with many other new and exciting things mixed in the middle somewhere.

You would likely be eager to learn all these new things, as you have been watching the children around you do them for as long as you can remember.

There’s just so much going on. So many toys, so many colours, and so many adventures just around every corner.

But then imagine that you couldn't get around that corner, or over to that colourful toy or huge glass window with a spectacular view, without someone else’s help.

What if things were almost always just out of your reach?

How would that make you feel?

Would you be sad?  Would you cry? Would you be mad?
Quite possible.

The important question here though, how does our beautiful Sally react?  This is her reality after all.

The answer?

Her’s is a face full of happiness, with eyes that sparkle, and rarely does she make much of a fuss. (Except maybe when she is at hospital getting her legs recast every week.)

That’s not to say that she doesn't have moments...

where the tears well up.  But that’s the same for any kid.

Those moments though, are few and far in between, and even when they do occur...

it doesn't take long for a smile to appear.  It is always lingering just beneath the surface.

We could all learn a lot from Sally.
The lessons she could teach us are many.
Of this, there is no doubt.

So today, no matter what crosses your path...
Remember our precious Sally.
Remember her joy and contentment.
And remember to smile.
