A Picture of a Generous Heart

A couple of months ago, we shared a story about an elderly Chinese woman who gave selflessly and generously to the foster home.  It was an inspiring story of giving one's all.

Over Chinese New Year, one of our staff members went to visit the lady in her home town.  She took a few gifts to her from the foster home and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon visiting with her and learning more about her.

The woman is almost blind, so she used a large magnifying glass along with her eyeglasses to look at pictures on the calendar.

We learned that she became a believer when she was about 40 years old, and that she and her husband financially support 13 small fellowships in their area!  All on their small income as farmers.

She also shared that her own mother died when she was a little over 1 year old.  We think we understand a little better why she has such a soft spot in her heart for orphans.

We're so thankful for this grandma and her heart for our children... we hope that you enjoy getting a glimpse of this grandma and keep her and those she loves in your thoughts!

  1. Oh I DO enjoy and APPRECIATE this post so much!! I VERY CLEARLY REMEMBER the original post about this elderly lady's support for NewDay. I have shared the story with others and I cannot get through it without choking up, even to this day. It's the purity of her love, of truly giving all she has for the least of these. It's a sacrifice beyond what most of us will ever understand. Done so willingly in love. To learn that she supports so many other local ministries for orphans blesses my heart even more. Truly the love of Jesus shining out from within her! Praying that she is abundantly blessed for the love she has shown and continues to show to the children. Thanks again for posting an update on her...I love seeing a face put to the woman half a world away who has touched my heart so deeply! <><
