Emerson

In the Savannah Project, there are gentle nannies and a group of the cutest children.

Thanks to careful care, daily targeted rehabilitation exercises and learning activities, the children have the opportunity to develop their physical function, self-care ability and mental development. Living in a loving, caring and accepting family atmosphere, the children can develop their hearts freely, and we are seeing more and more children showing their unique personalities.

Emerson is a handsome ten-year-old boy. Due to cerebral palsy, he has difficulty with physical movement. If you don’t live with him every day, it’s hard to imagine a child who can’t stand, walk, or even eat a spoonful of food by himself, to be such a warm, optimistic, smart, and funny child.

In winter, there was a lot of snow outside the window. We used Styrofoam to make snowman. The snowman was completed with the participation of the children. Children who have difficulty in controlling the movement of their hands need an adult to hold their hand to help apply glue and stick it together. After drawing the two black eyes, it was Emerson's turn to select the snowman's nose. He decided to choose a red triangle to make the snowman's nose. It was a bit crooked after being glued on, and the snowman looked funny. The children couldn't stop laughing when they saw how funny he looked with a crooked nose.

Emerson becomes a special model for the nannies!

One day the therapist was training how to wear orthopedic shoes. Emerson was chosen as the model. Emerson saw that everyone was watching him, and he became very serious. When the therapist asked him to make certain movements, he worked very hard to cooperate. When the therapist stretched his legs, we all knew it might be a little painful, but Emerson remained brave. Finally, the therapist helped Emerson to stand up, and a sense of pride appeared on his face. He also made a face at everyone; it was really cute.

Seeing Emerson so happy, his nanny was also very happy. Emerson has a goal to one day stand on his own. Go Emerson, we believe you can do it!

Another time, when celebrating a holiday with the children, Sarah Yao led everyone in singing while playing the guitar. Emerson was very happy and clapped his hands, moving his head and body, and smiling the whole time. He has a soft spot for music.

After Sarah sang "The Wheels on the bus," the children were still not satisfied, so she used the children's names in the song and asked them to make various funny sounds. Emerson understood her intentions at once. Every time they sang a passage, he pointed to a child and asked the teacher to sing words about the child. Sarah cooperated with his direction and put each child in the song. We were impressed with Emerson’s quick understanding of what Sarah was doing. We not only learned about his funny personality, but also how smart he is!

We remember every interesting story and growth moment of our children and are always grateful for them. The children’s personality can be observed, their potential can be displayed, and the relationship with their nanny becomes deeper and deeper. This is real achievement to give the children opportunity to thrive and shine.

Love can make a difference!
