The 12 Days of CNY: Day 12, Levi's Story

December 9, 2012, we saw our son for the first time.   It's that moment one can not explain except to another adoptive parent, who has experienced firsthand how God just whispers in your ear, "That's your child." And the love you feel is almost instant.  The child was Levi.

Once we began gathering information on Levi we learned he was at the New Day Foster Home.  We had not heard of New Day prior to this.  We were amazed once we began researching them and learning from others how much they do for the orphans in China. Levi came to New Day when he was almost 8 months old. He came with a severe heart issue, a cleft lip and palate, and asplenia.  He was very malnourished.  Levi more than likely would have died had it not been for New Day.  They took our little guy and helped him get the nourishment he needed so he could gain strength for his first heart surgery. They found sponsors who graciously gave money so he could undergo this heart surgery. New Day gave him hope. They gave him love.  They let him know he was cherished and that he could trust others.

We locked Levi's file on February 23, 2012 and arrived home November 8.  Levi is an amazing little boy! He is self confident, joyful,  brave, and strong willed.  He does not give in easily and doesn't let much stop him. He is polite and very well mannered.   He loves to tease and has a wonderful sense of humor.  He is vibrant and his little personality just shines right through.  His transition into our family has been easy.  I have no doubt that this is due to the love and care that he was given at New Day. He is a blessing to our family and we are so happy he is our son!

New Day is not just a foster center for these kids,  they are their family.  They have loved Levi so much! They have taught him how to love. How to flourish even in difficult times. They nursed him back to health and got him the medical care that he needed to live.  They encouraged  him to press on. To grow and develop into the precious little boy that he is.  What a wonderful gift they have given him.  What a wonderful gift they have given us!
