Maya's Winning Smile

What can I say? This little girl lights up my life! Maya is the first baby that I fell in love with here at New Day. You can almost call it love at first sight. I walked in the room and our eyes met. I gave her a grin and she gave me one of the most amazing sights of all: her winning smile! Who can resist that face?

I look forward to every day that I spend with Maya. Since I've been here, she's been receiving more rounds of chemotherapy. Despite what she's going through, she is still one of the happiest babies I've ever met. It seems like nothing can keep her from smiling. And I'm so incredibly thankful for that.

Maya has a joy that is infectious. She is active, upbeat, a little mischievous, and absolutely loves attention. Recently she's been getting jealous when I hold any of the other babies in the CCU. As I hold Talley or Ella, I look at Maya and ask her, "Where did Maya's smile go?" And yet again, her eyes light up and that perpetual joy pours out. I'm so grateful that I've had the opportunity to get to know her and experience the joy that is her life. She is such a blessing!
