Summer Camp

From July 19th  to 22nd  this year, a four-day summer camp themed "Who Calls My Youth" was held in Inner Mongolia’s grasslands.

Some of the children who are about to enter adolescence in our Eleos Project were able to attend this camp.

Value and Harvest

In response to the pressures faced by adolescents in terms of values, social relationships, and network influence, this summer camp was specially designed to address key issues.

"Who is in charge of my values?"

"Who is in charge of my body?"

"Who is in charge of my emotions?"

"Who sets the boundaries of my time?"

"Who calls the shots of my time?"

Through the course discussions, the children realized the value of self-worth, the boundaries of the body, the boundaries of relationships, the boundaries of the Internet, the concept of love, the understanding of drugs, setting boundaries, etc. The course taught them the should be the masters of their own lives, so they won’t be affected by the prejudice and lies of this world.

Performance

The camp also helped the young people develop a sense of teamwork and cooperation through group activities, and game challenges. To accept those with special bodies, to accept those who disagree with them, the big to take care of the small, and to cooperate with each other. The games, activities and sharing, helped them to be more open. Each activity brought them different experiences, feelings and information gained.

Evaluation

During the four days, the children lived at the camp. They learned to clean up after meals and to clean up after class sessions. In the process, they learned to take care of each other, and learned to accept themselves and each other. As volunteers and teachers, we also found that there are differences in the talents and characteristics of each child, some are very strong in leadership, some are very strong in sports; some students have many ideas, and some children reflect friendliness and kindness.

Although it is only four days, we are very moved and gratified to have the opportunity to see the children reveal themselves in the group activities: especially the children in these special families. They often faced unacceptance and devaluation in society. When they realized their value and with correct guidance, they learned to put aside the negative effects of life and face them with a positive and optimistic attitude, they saw this would help them better integrate into society.

They are still young and need outside input, but in the future, they will grow into healthy and capable adults who are contributors and someone who help others!

Hope

During the camp, NDFH had the opportunity to guide our children in the camp activities and help them integrate into the group. We often saw their happy smiles. We know that they deserve attention, care, and love just like every child in an ordinary family. On the road of their youth, they can grow up safely, realize their ideals, and become people who are beneficial to themselves and others.

After the camp, the participating parents and children were very grateful for the hard work of the organizer and the dedication of the volunteer team. We will also continue to look for such opportunities for more children in need so that they can learn, improve, and grow!

We would like to express our gratitude to the friends who have made it possible for our children in the Eleos Project to develop into healthy adults.
