Luke’s journey of healing

It had been a long time since we saw Luke before he returned to Beijing for his surgery.

Do you remember little Luke when he first came as a 6-month old? His orphanage had called asking for help for his congenital urinary deformation. We took him to the hospital, but after examinations, his doctor recommended delaying his surgery till he turned two.

Little Luke had a pleasant and joyful life at New Day Foster Home. He has a cheerful heart and very sweet smile, and he loved all the interesting activities that he could do with the other kids!

He loved to play with our dog Tom.

Outdoor games were one of his favorite activities and one of those was pretending to sweep the backyard.

Everybody loved Luke!

Finally it was time for his surgery, so he returned to Beijing.

It did not take a long time for him to adjust to the hospital and the medical staff.

His surgery did not last long but post surgery he was in a lot of pain and Luke often got quite frustrated.
His nanny spent a lot of time comforting him and feeding him soft food. One week later, Luke recovered quite well and became playful again- his smile returned.

Luke will still need another surgery in the future, but with his joyful spirit we know he will recover quickly.

We are happy to announce that Luke has been released from the hospital. He has returned to his orphanage and we will miss him. We wish all the kids who have graduated from our medical project  a blessed life and we miss them all.
