Transformation Tuesday: Jesse

This is one of the first pictures taken of Jesse on the day that he arrived at New Day Beijing.

However, unlike most of our kids, he didn't come to us directly from a government orphanage, but from our New Day South facility.  Which means that we have pictures from much further back...

In the January of 2013, a baby boy arrived at New Day South, diagnosed with GI issues and heart defect.  His nannies described him as 'a sweet baby with a strong personality'.

He was given the English name 'Chris' and was dearly loved by all the staff at New Day South.

Two years later, at the end of 2014, the folk at New Day South said sad goodbyes to little Chris, who needed more expert medical care than they were able to provide in their facility.  Here at New Day Beijing we have an onsite doctor, and we were glad to be able to care for this precious young man.

Chris soon settled into his new life here in Beijing, bonding with his nannies and making lots of new friends.  In 2015 he underwent four urological surgeries (plus another one in January this year), which was tough, but we're grateful that he was able to get the medical attention that he needed.

Despite all that he has been through, this amazing little guy has kept smiling his goofy smiles and charming everyone with his sweet, affectionate personality.

It has been such a joy to watch him grow and develop, and we were so happy when we heard that he had been matched with a forever family.  His family named him Jesse, and soon he will leaving us to become their son.

Jesse will be missed, by the staff, the volunteers, and all of his friends, but we are delighted that he is finally getting what he needs most of all; a family of his very own.
