International Women's Day 2016

International Women's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8.  Here in China, it is a half-day holiday (for women only!), a celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women.

We have plenty of amazing ladies to celebrate here at New Day, and Gan Lu picked out a bunch of recent pictures of some of them just in honor of the occasion.  We'll be publishing all of them in a scrapbook soon, but wanted to be sure to say "Happy Women's Day" to all of our female readers today!

We are so thankful for the loving, hard-working ladies who work here as nannies, being mamas to our kids and taking such excellent care of them.

Hannah used to be Charlotte's nanny (before Charlotte moved downstairs), but Hannah still makes time to hang out with her beloved now-not-so-little one.

The brave, dedicated ladies who are the mamas of the Critical Care Unit have special bonds with their medically-fragile charges.

Do you know who these two incredible women are?  Nancy, our on-site doctor, and Grace, our Medical Director, who handles the logistics of all the hospital visits and medical care.  Between them, they play a huge role in the amazing transformations that we see in the kids.

Our therapists (Physical, Speech and Occupational) also work so hard with the children, seeing so much encouraging progress and positive change.

Most (but not all) of our current volunteers are women, working one-on-one with children and teaching preschool.  Abby (pictured below) also covered the 'social media' role while Yours-Truly was away for three weeks just recently.  Thanks, Abby!

And there are the foster-mamas, the cleaning staff, office staff...many admirable and inspirational women to celebrate today.  Happy Women's Day!
