Daphne arrived at New Day South in September for an unknown length of time. We weren't sure whether it would be a few weeks or a few months that she would be in our care. Four months later she is still with us and is blossoming into a precious little girl right before our eyes.
Daphne is one bright girl. She can read and write in Chinese and is quickly learning English. She attends our morning preschool class, however, since she is much farther ahead than our younger children, she could probably teach the class!
Daphne loves to write and color. She is often found carrying around her pencils, crayons, note pad, and coloring books. As you can see, she has quickly mastered how to write her name in English! She has also learned to play "Happy Birthday" on our toy piano. At our birthday party this afternoon she will be playing while we sing. She has been practicing all week and can't wait for her debut!
Right before Christmas, we baked Christmas cookies during our Preschool class. Daphne caught on very quickly and loved it! Perhaps she will be a baker someday?
It doesn't take much to make her happy. Two of Daphne's Christmas packages arrived a little late but she didn't mind! She opened them right up and was very pleased with what she found inside.
Daphne has a smile that can light up a room. She is full of joy, laughter, and smiles. She is a "little mama" to our younger children and is so good with the babies.
Daphne has such a sweet spirit and a strong desire to have a family of her very own. She has watched three of our children leave to be adopted in the last month and you can see the ache for a family in her eyes.
We know that Daphne, our little princess, will be such a blessing to her family one day and we can't wait until that day!
We are simply in love with this precious treasure!

Praying that your Mama and Daddy find you soon, sweet girl.
She's adorable! I'm guessing she has Down Syndrome? We just adopted 2 girls from China, one who has DS:) such pure joy!
ReplyDeleteI would love to advocate for Daphne. Does she have a family yet?
