Report from November

Savannah Project and Little Deer Project

(1) Seasonal Activities

Daily Activities

Throwing the ball - Shooting: This action is not simple. It requires mobilizing all parts of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Emerson’s nanny stood opposite him, holding the basket. Encouraged by her gentle words and eyes, he worked hard to throw the ball in his hand.

There is a lot of fun in the activity room: when the weather is bad outside, you can play together indoors: karaoke, swinging, the trampoline, music, reading a book in a quiet place. There are many ways the children can enjoy themselves.

Little hands are dexterous: nannies and children make handicrafts together to enhance caregiver-child relationship and improve hand dexterity.

Cindy and Erik were able to go see the drama "Duguima." This play was organized by Baotou orphanage to recall the historical story of three thousand children that were sent from Shanghai to Inner Mongolia during the great famine.

Five children in the Savannah project entered elementary school. Joy and Samuel received certificates to praise their efforts!

(2) Medical News

The children in our programs were all Vaccinated against influenza and chickenpox, but they still cannot completely avoid seasonal colds. From time to time, there are children who get sick. With rest, good nutrition, and hygiene they are gradually recovering.

Lydia came to the Savannah project to adjust the standers and special chairs, give practical solutions for good operations, conducted advanced assessments of the nannies, and provided consultation and guidance on childcare.

 (3) Project Progress

Irene was adopted

Home is a harbor, and children in foster care and foster care programs are only temporarily anchored in the harbor. This month, Irene entered her own stable harbor. She has parents! We wish her peace and joy in her life!

This month, Madeline was able to be placed with a foster family. We are happy she will be able to experience the warmth of a family and the love of her foster parents. This has already made a difference- she took her first steps without any support.

(4) A Visit of Love

Uncle Shuai has arrived!

Uncle Shuai is a love ambassador to NDFH. This time he brought his blessings and came to the Savannah Project to spend two happy and fulfilling days with the children.

Students from the Teacher's College came to visit the children in the project, interacted with the children, answered learning questions, and expressed their willingness to participate more in the future.

Eleos Project

In November 2023, the team visited 13 children in the project and distributed scholarships, and materials.

Activities

At the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, we held a fun sports camp on the playground of Qingshuihe No. 2 Middle School, where we saw the energetic and enthusiastic side of the children. Many stars emerged in this sports meeting, such as Social master Xiao Xing, Leadership rookie Xiao Yi, Focus star Xiao En, Break through yourself Xiao Yan, Sunshine girl Xiao Xin, etc., During the group games, the children cooperated with each other, reminded each other, and encouraged each other after victory. The difficulties from their original families have not hindered the children's character development. They practice unity, advancement, and mutual help.

Medical

Xiaoying was hospitalized again due to illness. Her father took her to a local hospital in Hohhot. The doctors and nurses took special care of Xiaoying. After our staff learned of the situation, they arrived at the hospital to visit the child as soon as possible. Surgery needed to be scheduled as soon as possible and her father worked hard to make this happen. We went to the hospital several times to visit Xiaoying helping her to eat, and chat with her listening to her thoughts. She had some daily needs so we purchased them and school supplies for her.

Children's progress

Wow! Xiaohe, who attends junior high school, gave us a big surprise! His mother said that he suddenly became inspired and communicated very well with teachers and classmates. Returning from school in the evening, he had to study under the street lamp. He would tell his mother every day when he came home what happened at school. Another important point is that Xiaohe started painting again. Suffering from financial pressure, Xiao He’s mother was unable to enroll him in a painting class. After learning of the situation, we located resources and Xiao He was able to attend two painting classes for free. If he wants to continue, we will cooperate with his parents to help. We want to facilitate Xiaohe to develop his potential.

The family situation of Xiaolong and his sister Xiaoyi met the conditions for state subsidies. After learning the details, we consulted relevant national policies, and the local government center regarding support and assistance. In September, we helped Xiaolong’s grandfather prepare and submit the application for government assistance. In November, we received the official approval. Each of the two children receive a monthly subsidy, which is crucial for their future.

Thank you for spending your time with us, we believe that life is changed by love!
