Time is like running water, quietly slipping away from us.
The lives of the children and nannies in New Day Foster Home’s projects are always peaceful without being too chaotic. However, sometimes there is a moment when the child's unexpected words and actions are enough to make your heart smile. It makes you feel that raising these children with love is such a wonderful gift!
Abner’s nanny wrote this
We celebrated Women’s Day together at noon. I chatted with the other nannies while eating sugar cookies, saying that today's sugar cookies are soft and sweet, and very delicious.
Suddenly, Abner took a napkin and put it in my hand and said, “Mom, the sugar is on your clothes, take this to wipe it.” Only then did I notice that as he said, my clothes were covered with sugar powder, and only clever Abner noticed.
I was very moved. I took the napkin and wiped my clothes while saying, “Abner is my sweet little boy!”
Unexpectedly, Abner went on to say: “Mother is also like a little girl, she should wear a bib when eating!”
His words made us all burst into laughter.
Written by Theodore’s nanny
I don’t know if it’s because of their disabilities, or because of their special desire for the warmth of love, the children living in the Savannah Project become more sensible, caring, and considerate than ordinary children.
Theodore, who is just eight years old, has learned to take care of the friends around him, and he also knows how to be grateful for the efforts of the nannies. One day, when nanny Zhao accompanied Theodore and several children to lunch, he suddenly said, "Mother Zhao, you have wrinkles on your hands. Does this mean that you are too old, to eat with chopsticks, to write, to hug us?" She replied, "Yes, you are getting older, and your nannies are getting older. When we can't hold you anymore, we will retire!"
Theodore tilted his head and thought for a while, then firmly said, "Mother Zhao, don't worry, when I grow up, I will take care of you!"
Children who grow up in love naturally learn to give back to those they love.
Written by Irene's nanny
Irene just returned to the Savannah project after the status of her foster family’s situation changed. She returned just in time for us to celebrate the birthdays of several children. When everyone got a piece of cake, James picked up his plate and brought it to his nanny saying, "Mom, here’s a piece of cake for you!" She was touched and kept praising him for being so considerate.
When Irene saw her big brother sharing his cake with his nanny, she also raised the cake in her small hand and gave it to her nanny, and said loudly, "Mom, I'll give you mine too!"
Yes, children follow good behaviors because the nannies teach them to love each other.
Written by Sam’s nanny
On March 8th, Sam brought two cards back after school. He had made them in class. One was full of idioms and blessings he had just learned. He used them to write about his nanny Liu, who takes care of him.
The other was a picture he drew for her. When she asked him what he painted, he said, "This one is a lipstick, this one is eye shadow, I painted it for you!"
She remembered that he had been involved in a dance show some time ago, so he had seen some of these cosmetics. Nanny Liu asked him why he wanted to give her these.
Sam said earnestly, "Because you love to be pretty. You are even prettier with lipstick and eyeshadow!"
Her heart melted because of his words.
Each picture was an expression of a child's love. May this love always flow among us.
Happy Women's Day!
