Peeking in on a couple children

We start the new year with great hope. In New Day Foster Home’s projects each child has a diary, the nannies record the children's life in their diaries. Let us share some of their little stories and see how they grow and transform in our big family. Under the care of their nannies, they learn how to express and share their emotions!

Written by James’ nanny

During the holidays, we were busy cleaning up.

We started cleaning the glass early one morning. James saw that the nannies were busy and came over. I stood on the windowsill, and James helped by handing me the cleaning rag. He also helped take care of his younger brothers and sisters as we worked.

After a while the glass was wiped clean.

When I got down, I felt a little backache, and subconsciously touched my back with my hand.

When James saw it, he immediately asked anxiously, "Mom, what's the matter with you?"

I said, "Mom has a little back pain." He hurriedly stretched out his hand and said, "Mom, I'll massage it for you." He raised his hand and thumped it a few times on my lower back.

I was very moved by his warm-hearted actions, and said quickly, "Thank you James!" Tears filled my eyes.

Written By Samuel and Frank’s Nanny

This month, the biggest gain Frank made was in language. Playing with friends, playing games, and learning activities, Frank's ability to express himself has improved.

One night, the children, after taking a bath, lay in their beds ready to go to sleep.

I was washing the children's clothes in the bathroom when I overheard the children talking. I was curious to hear what they were saying.

I heard Samuel ask Frank: "Do you still remember Mindy?"

Frank said, "I remember."

Then Samuel asked, "Do you miss her?"

Frank said, "I do!" Then the two of them talked for a while longer, and then they both fell asleep.

The conversation between the two was like a "heart-to-heart" between friends, sharing their thoughts about a friend who has left. That kind of feeling is very beautiful, and very warm.

Every night they will chat for a while, chatting and laughing, and fell asleep while chatting.

Written by Amos’ nanny

Last month it snowed a lot. I said, "Look, it's snowing, we can have a snowball fight and make a snowman!" Amos looked out the window eagerly. Seeing the crystal white snow outside, with a longing look on his face, he said, "I really want to go out and play!"

I took the opportunity to test Amos about the subject of snowmen that the children had learned about. I asked him, "Do we need to build a snowman's body or head first?"

Amos quickly answered, "Body!"

"When we make a snowman, how do you want to help it?"

Amos said, "Give him a hat!"

I wanted to know why Amos thought of wearing a hat first, instead of putting hands and feet on the snowman. So, I asked, "Why?"

He said, "This way the snowman won't be cold!"

Oh, sweet boy! —— Who would feel cold with you beside them?

Love does change lives!
