The Journey of Special Education Training

There isn't a singular benchmark for the development of life.

Supporting the education and progress of children
with special needs requires dedicated and careful assistance.

Transforming from a "headstrong little calf" to a "radiant little sun"...

The journey of Kai is documented in the teacher's monthly journal.

In what feels like no time at all, Kai's development in school has entered an exciting new phase. We are thrilled to witness his significant advancements in emotional regulation, social awareness, and cognitive skills.

  • With the ongoing support of the character-building picture book "Not Stubborn Since Childhood," he has started to express his needs more gently and thoughtfully.
  • During the "word recognition game," as Kai learns to recognize his own name, he still requires the teacher's help to properly hold his pen. Yet, as he carefully draws the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal strokes of his name with a somewhat awkward grip, his concentrated expression suggests he is invested in discovery.
  • It's truly heartwarming to see him point to his work and exclaim, "Kai is great!" after completing his writing. This act of self-affirmation marks a vital first step in fostering his self-confidence.
  • Kai's progress this month has been truly remarkable. The "stubborn moments" he exhibited at the start of the month, such as his insistence on arranging toys in a specific order, have noticeably diminished. Through storytelling and role-playing, he has shown the ability to adjust his behavior actively. Each day, he arrives in the classroom with a radiant smile, reminiscent of a sunflower, bringing warmth to everyone around him.

As we move forward, our focus will be on reinforcing Kai's emotional regulation strategies and enhancing his capacity to understand others' perspectives. We plan to incorporate tactile learning aids into his writing practice, gradually helping him develop independent writing skills.

The Journey of Special Education Training

Did you know that Kai, as part of the community of children with Down syndrome, has experienced significant growth thanks to years of dedicated guidance and consistent hard work from special education teachers? Their commitment has paved the way for children with special needs, like Kai, to embark on a truly unique path of development.

In the NDFH special education program, there are 38 children with varying special needs, including autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and various developmental disorders. This diversity calls for our special education teachers to invest their full energy into their professional skills, expertise, compassion, and patience to achieve meaningful outcomes for each child.

In line with this commitment, we strive to extend our support to the teachers in special education kindergartens.

From the 18th to the 20th of June 2025, we organized a three-day special education training program. We invited seasoned educators with extensive expertise in working with children with special needs to visit the school. They observed the children's behaviors, offered case-specific recommendations, and conducted professional training sessions to enhance the teachers' skills and knowledge.

Frontline special education teachers expressed that after participating in the training and engaging in discussions with their peers, they gained a deeper insight into the challenges of special education. They felt acknowledged and respected, and they are eager to incorporate the skills they've learned into their future teaching practices.

There has yet to be a unified standard for life's growth, and the education and development of children with special needs demand focused and careful support. By providing this, these children can embark on their own journeys of discovery, filled with unexpected joys, just like everyone else. This will lead to even more heartwarming stories of growth!
