Eleos Project August visit

The month of August is over. We have collected several short stories to review the visit to the Eleos Project on August 5th.

1. Although there are constant problems, there is still joy and peace

Lao Lao and Huihui face many problems that need to be solved. Huihui’s high school entrance examination results were not very satisfactory. Fortunately, there were volunteers who helped him apply for a vocational high school. He chose an accounting major, which will be beneficial to his future employment. On our last visit his uncle suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and was hospitalized for two months. During this visit we learned that his condition has improved. He is currently in a rehabilitation hospital and will return home soon to recuperate. Huihui’s grandma has to reconsider where to live, whether to rent a house or other options, she has no idea yet.

But grandma is in good condition and still looks happy, peaceful, and hopeful.

2. Everyone is working hard to survive.

Xiaoxi's father has not been sick this year. He is in good health and in good condition. Xiaoxi’s grandma was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. When it gets severe, she trembles all over her body uncontrollably. After taking the medicine according to the doctor's instructions, the outcome was very good, but it is also accompanied by the side effect of insomnia, and her fatigue and discomfort can be seen.

Xiaoxi’s father insists on delivering takeout. We told him that it has been raining heavily recently, so he should be sure to pay attention to safety. He said that when it rains, there are more orders and money is easier to make.

It is true that manual workers do not put safety before their livelihood, and they must work hard to maintain their lives.

3. Just saying "Thank you for your hard work" can touch.

After her father passed away, cooking, housework, and picking up and transporting the children all became Xiaowen's mother's responsibility. Coupled with the fact that she has an intellectual disability, life is not easy for her.

We encouraged her by saying, “You have worked hard to take care of your children.”

This made her cry. She told us it is difficult to be alone, and she has to do everything alone.

4. The most important thing is that you never give up and the people around you never abandon you.

On our last visit we brought a professional rehabilitation teacher to visit Shuyao and customized a special dining chair and seat for her. Shuyao has become more familiar with us, and she smiled as soon as we entered. Shuyao’s grandmother said that Shuyao takes the initiative to practice the therapy exercises given by the rehabilitation expert every day and asks her grandma to help her.

What an amazing child, she knows the importance of exercise in order to stand as soon as possible. No matter how difficult, she knows it is worth it. After hearing this, we cherished Shuyao even more.

The volunteers praised Grandpa and Grandma. Their careful care of Shuyao day after day is worthy of everyone's respect. Although she is bedridden, not a single muscle atrophied, because they daily gave her massages and helped with her exercise.

5. No matter how little I have; I can still give.

Because Xiaohan's mother was ill, the visit was postponed for a few days. It is not easy for one person to bear the burden of the whole family. Not only does she have to take her elderly mother to and from the hospital for dialysis twice a week, but she also has to take care of the study and life of Xiaohan, as well as her older brother who is in poor health. At the same time, she has to work hard to make a living.

Even in the midst of difficulty, Xiaohan’s mother prepared a lot of Xiaohan's clothes to donate to families in greater need.

One of the volunteers wanted to buy ice cream for Xiaohan. Seeing her joy, they were encouraged and blessed.
